The year is nearly over, and we are all eager to bid farewell to 2023 and welcome 2024. However, before we get too excited about the new year, let’s look back at some memorable product moments from Google in 2023!
Google unveiled powerful new Pixel phones
Google’s first foldable phone, the Pixel Fold, had its grand appearance in 2023. Meanwhile, they continued the A-series with the Pixel 7a and introduced the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. The recently launched Pixel series comes powered by Google Tensor G3. It has a slew of pro-level photography capabilities. The Pixel 8 Pro is also the first smartphone with built-in AI, and it now runs Gemini Nano to enable new capabilities such as in summary.
There was also Chromebook Plus
Google also introduced Chromebook Plus, a powerful, AI-powered device with features and tools tailored to every user wanting to enhance their laptop game. Chromebook Plus features best-in-class security and access to all the apps users know and love, as well as twice the power, speed, memory, and storage of ordinary Chromebooks.
Google welcomed wearable technology improvements
Google Pixel Watch 2, a more capable smartwatch with greater health insights and additional safety features for peace of mind, and the Fit bit Charge 6, which has real-time heart rate tracking that links to compatible fitness equipment and seven days of battery life, were launched.
Google has introduced new methods for tracking your health
These new items arrived with new methods to track your health. In addition to our most accurate heart-rate tracking system for the Google Pixel Watch and Fit bit Charge 6, they created new tools for the Google Pixel Watch, such as fall detection and oxygen saturation (SpO2) tracking.
Google assisted you in becoming prepared
Google introduced extreme heat warnings to assist people in finding information about heat waves, and we increased flood predictions to new areas. In addition, the new Pollen API enabled Google Maps Platform developers to submit information about changing allergens in a specific location.
Google Maps has become much more immersive
This year saw a slew of Google Maps changes, including the launch of Immersive View for Routes, which allows you to visually preview a complete journey – bike lanes, junctions, where to park, and more — before you ever leave the house. With additional capabilities for touring national parks, maps have also aided in navigating the great outdoors.
Google concentrated on picture features
This year, Google released two AI editing tools: Magic Editor, which allows you to easily make complex edits like repositioning your photo’s subject, and Best Take for Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, which uses a series of similar photos taken close together to help you automatically create a blended image with everyone’s best expression.
Workplace worked hard
This year has seen a flurry of Google Workspace releases. Here are a few examples: They added the AI-powered Smart Compose tool to Google Chat, which assists you in swiftly crafting a response in Chat by providing contextually informed ideas that help eliminate spelling and grammatical problems. New Workspace building components make it easier to add extra information, such as supplementary files or Google Calendar entries.
Passkeys improved security
Google increased security with passkeys, a simpler and more secure method to authenticate into your online accounts. Passkeys eliminate the need for a password by allowing you to unlock your smartphone and log into your accounts using a fingerprint, facial scan, or pin.
Chrome has become a little shinier
Google updated the Chrome Web Store with a new appearance and a few address bar changes. When our favorite browser turned 15 this year, Google celebrated with new features, including redesigned icons, color palettes, and AI-powered extensions.
The search goes on
Google Search celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2023! And they are not about to slow down: Apart from improving Multi-search and launching SGE, they introduced 33 additional languages to Google Translate and more science and math assistance. They have also improved the insights on Google Flights to help you locate the best deal.
